The PhDGOV project, an ambitious initiative to enhance the governance of PhD programs within Palestinian higher education institutions, co-funded by the Erasmus Plus Program, officially launched with a kickoff event from October 21-23, 2024. Hosted at RWTH Aachen University, the event brought together partners from Palestinian and European academic and governmental sectors to launch the project activities. 

The three-day launch served as a platform for partners to align on the project’s goals, emphasizing the need for robust governance structures, effective risk management, and a comprehensive dissemination strategy to engage stakeholders across academia, industry, and the public sector. Central discussions focused on establishing modern PhD frameworks, promoting sustainable collaboration between academia and industry, and developing resources that will support the growth and standardization of PhD programs across Palestine. 

The PhDGOV project will unfold through carefully planned phases, including workshops, training sessions, and collaborative platforms designed to facilitate knowledge sharing and innovation. This initiative is anticipated to make a lasting impact by advancing doctoral education standards, benefiting the academic community and contributing to broader societal progress in Palestine.
